Children's Museum.

So back in August we had a "family day of fun" planned.  A morning of appointments, followed by lunch with just the three of us (ok four of us including baby #2) and then the Children's Museum.  It was the day Casey and I were finding out what the sex of our second baby was.  In my mind, it was going to be a magical day.  We were going to have so much fun and be over the moon to hear we were having a baby girl!  Well the day didn't go as planned... but does it ever?

Lucas woke up at 3 AM that day, so when our alarm went off at 6 AM we were already up.  Then we got ready to go to the hospital for our "gender" appointment.  On the way, the car broke down.  We had to call a cab.  The hospital didn't have me on the schedule.  And we found out baby #2 was a boy.

Don't get me wrong.  I am very blessed and I know it.  But I am also human.  I am also a woman.  It was a very rough day for me full of anger and lots of tears.  The realization that I would go through life without a little girl was the icing on the cake.  Never mind the fact we had to leave the hospital to go tow our car and would not be able to have lunch or take Lucas to the Children's Museum.

Since I will be 35 when I deliver #2, the doctor wanted me to have the sonogram early (week 17) to see if there were any issues sooner than later.  We knew we would have to go back in a month for the exact same appointment as I would be further along and therefore the baby would be bigger.  At the end of this terrible, no good, very bad day Casey and I decided we would redo "the day of family fun" in a month.  I was so looking forward to erasing the bad taste in my mouth of the day we had just had.

This time the day turned out much, much better!  Baby #2 is still a boy (just saying...), but we had a great time just the three of us.  Lucas loved the Children's Museum!

1st Haircut!

Lucas has been blessed with beautiful hair and plenty of it.  Not a lot mind you, but just enough.  We have talked about cutting his hair since he turned 1.  Can you believe he will be 16 months old in just a few weeks.  Boy does time fly.

So I couldn't decide where to take him to get his hair cut.  I thought a "kids cut" place was the best decision.  But then a few friends told me to just go to the salon I go to and have them cut it.  It will have more style if done at a salon.  Problem is, I don't get my hair cut all that often (is that bad?)  I might get it cut once a year...maybe.  We kept talking about getting it cut, but never did.  Recently at a restaurant a lady said "what a cute little girl".  Done!  Time to get it cut (not that he looks like a girl by any means, but there was definitely enough to put in a ponytail.)

So I cut it!  I cut Casey's hair for him and decided to try my lack-of-skills on Lucas too. Did pretty good if I might say so myself.

After Shot #1 - Lucas combing his new hair do.

After Shot # 2 - Tragic.  My hair is gone.

The After Shot #3 - I look like a BIG boy now.

Lucas doesn't stay put very long anymore.  It is very hard for me to get pictures of him. Hence the lack of updates on my blog.  So the after shot is not the best.  You will just have to see the big boy and his new do in person.  Trust me...he looks cute (not biased at all!).

Easter Sunday.

We had a quiet Easter, just the three of us.  Since Luke turned 1 the day before, we decided to keep it low key. It was nice b/c this was the first Sunday in a long time we have gotten to hang out all day as a family.  We went to church and then played with our 1 year old.

Baby Lucas: 1 Year Old.

Well it happened.  My baby turned 1.  In a blink of an eye, my itty-bitty-baby is now a big boy.  We had a small intimate party for him with the family.  The theme for his first birthday - monkey.

It is amazing how fast a year can go by.  We love you Lucas.  We cannot imagine life without you.  We know you won't remember this first birthday, but hope you felt the love from our entire family.  You will always be our baby.
