Do It Yourself Kind of Season.

I tried to make as many gifts as I could this year for Christmas.
I liked the way things turned out.  I couldn't post these pictures before
because people would see what they were getting.
And of course, I just came across the photos now and decided to post them.

Home is Wherever I am With You.

I made this for Kari.  She said she loved it.
I haven't been to her house to make sure she hung it up.
But I hope she did!

 Grand Kids Make Life Grand.

Casey's mom - Gran - loves getting pictures of the boys.
Unfortunately, we give her so many pictures she is running
out of tabletop space for all those frames.
I saw something like this on Pinterest.
I made it and love the way it turned out!
Gran has this hanging in her house.

 Lucas' headboard.

Headboard painted and looks perfect
in his big boy room!

If I could do DIY projects for a living I would.
So. Much. Fun.

DIY: Baby Rocking Chair - part II

Back in April I posted part I of DIY: Baby Rocking Chair.  I had the intention of completing the chair back then, but some 6 months later I am FINALLY done!

Just so you remember, this is what it use to look like:

The chair originally when it was mine as a young girl.

The change I made to the chair back in April.

And now....

I think it is perfect now for a boy... or two!

John Deere II.

Casey recently bought some paint to fix up his old tractor.  I love it the way it is, but Casey is a "fix-it man".  I took some shots of the tractor (to possibly hang in Lucas' big boy room) before it's made over.

DIY: Baby Rocking Chair.

My parents have a storage shed with a handful of items from when I was a baby in it.  We are slowly getting these items to our house.  First up, a baby rocking chair.
I remember sitting in this when I was a kid.  I also remember putting my stuffed animals in it when I got older.  Now I get to put my baby boy in it.

Here are the before pictures:

I LOVE Fall!

Fall is my favorite time of the year.  I love the weather change, the fun clothes that come along with it and all the holidays that we get to share with family + friends.

Now that Lucas is here I am going to try my best to decorate
for all the holidays like my mom did when I was a kid.

First up, a wreath for our front door.

Although all of the Halloween decorations at Michael's were tempting,
I made my wreath "fall themed" so I can use it through November.

 The supplies:
wreath recycled from Christmas, mini pumpkins, leaves, ribbion + letter C.

The finished product on our front door.

The details.
Don't these colors just get you excited for Fall!

Now that summer is officially over (not that you would know it here in Houston),
bring on the Fall!

DIY Project: Letter Tags

Lucas and I made a trip to our local Micheal's + Hobby Lobby last week.  I could spend hours in those stores.  Lucky for Casey (the breadwinner) Lucas can only stand shopping for so long.

There are so many great monogram products out there right now.  I had a few scraps from old crafts around the house, so I decided to see if I could make my own letter tags to attach to some baskets in Lucas' room.

Felt Sheets + Recycled Cardboard.

The letter "L" for Lucas of course!

The front is felt + the back is a sturdy cardboard.  A hole is punched
and raffia is added for easy hanging.

The giraffe print on this "L" is so adorable.

Blue camo print on his stuffed animal basket.

Traditional camo print letter "L".

These will make perfect tags on birthday gifts and during the holidays!  The possibilities are endless.

DIY Project

Today I recalled a conversation I had with my friend Mel while I was pregnant.  I remember telling her I couldn't wait for maternity leave to start b/c I had so many projects I wanted to start.  I also remember her laughing saying she said the same thing when she had baby Dash, but informed me that I won't have as much time on your hands as I think.  Boy was she right!

My list keeps growing.  I have yet to start (let alone finish) a single project on my list so far.  Last week I did take before pictures of the project that is first on my list.  Unfortunately, it has been raining every afternoon in Houston, therefore, working outside is not an option.

These pieces were actually part of the packaging that helped protect Lucas' dresser/changing table.  I didn't want to throw them away b/c I felt like they could be used to make something cool.  The possibilities are endless, but I think I have decided what I will turn these into.  What do you think I am going to do with these?  Stay tuned to find out...
